A Night at the Observatory
Friday, November 8, 7-10p
The PSF is hosting a private viewing on Friday, Nov. 8 from 7-10p at the Harper College Observatory located in Palatine, IL. This event is free to PSF Members, their families and St. John Berchmans School.
Crisp, autumn air should give us optimal skies! Visible throughout the evening -- using the observatory's research-grade telescope -- will be the first quarter moon, Saturn, Uranus, and Jupiter. PSF member, Jim Wotal, will bring his guitar for some added ambiance.
To reach the main telescope, guests must be physically able to climb a 7-foot ladder. In the past, a few of our PSF members have brought their personal telescopes and those would be set up on ground level, but we cannot guarantee that at this time. As soon as we do, we'll post those details here.
Given it will be November, people should be dressed for the outside weather. Layers make the most sense! And of course, if it's looking like it will be overcast or rain, the event will be rescheduled. Additional details about the observatory can be found here.
If you are planning to attend, please RSVP here. This gives us a contact list in case we need to reschedule for bad weather and a general head count. Thanks and hope to see you there!
